Aisin Sunroof Systems Among “Best of the Best”
PLYMOUTH, Mich., April 16, 2007 – Aisin World Corp. of America (AWA), a worldwide supplier of automotive components, today announced that it was presented the General Motors 2006 Supplier of the Year award for its overall business performance in providing GM with world-class parts and services. The 15th annual award – themed the “Best of the Best” – was presented March 31 during ceremonies in Orlando, Fla.
“We are proud to honor Aisin World Corp. of America and Aisin Mfg., Illinois, LLC
as one of the ‘Best of the Best’ GM suppliers in 2006,” said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Aisin achieved the award based on outstanding performance in 2006. We appreciate their energy, hard work and dedication to the success of GM.”
AWA Executive Vice President Don Whitsitt said Aisin views General Motors as a true partner, and is proud to play a role in the production of some of the greatest vehicles in the world.
“We are delighted to receive this award from General Motors, and to be acknowledged for our sunroof systems,” said Whitsitt. “It’s not the first time we’ve been recognized for our quality by General Motors; and we’re sure it won’t be the last.”
The GM Supplier of the Year award began as a global program in 1992. Winners are selected by a global team of executives from purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and logistics who base their decisions on supplier performance in quality, service, technology and price. This year, General Motors honored 89 suppliers for their outstanding performance throughout 2006.
Aisin supplies sunroof systems for an array of GM products. Aisin sunroofs are produced at Aisin Mfg., Illinois, LLC, Marion, Ill. The facility also manufactures power slide door systems.
