Seymour, Indiana — Background: California Assembly Bill 1305 (AB1305), codified as Section 44475 to Division 26 of California’s Health and Safety Code, was enacted to prevent false claims about greenhouse gas emissions, commonly known as “greenwashing.” There are three sections of AB1305 that address:
- The marketing/selling of voluntary carbon offsets.
- The purchase or use of voluntary carbon offsets to make emissions claims.
- The making of emission claims
